The Regional Conference centered on Mediation held on 11th Feb, 2024 at Symbiosis University, Nagpur brought together judges from diverse jurisdictions. The Inaugural ceremony of this regional conference on mediation was done at the auspicious hands of Hon'ble Shri Justice B.R. Gavai, Judge, Supreme Court and Chairman SCLSC, New Delhi, in auspicious presence of Hon'ble Shri Justice Vikram Nath, Judge Supreme Court, Hon'ble Shri Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyay, Chief Justice, Bombay High Court and Patron-in-Chief, MSLSA, Hon'ble Shri Justice Nitin Jamdar, Judge, Bombay HC and Executive Chairman MASSACHUSETTS and Chairman, MCCAIN, Bombay HC, Hon'ble Shri Justice K.R. Shriram, Judge, Bombay HC, Member, MMMC, Bombay HC, Hon'ble Shri Justice Nitin W. Sambre, Administrative Judge, Nagpur Bench, Bombay HC, Hon'ble Shri Justice Vinay Joshi, Judge, Bombay HC, Nagpur Bench, Shri Dinesh P Surana, Principal District Judge, Chairman DLSA, Nagpur, Shri Sameer S Adkar, Member Secretary, MSLSA & Director MMMC.

The Legal Fraternity Conference, focusing on mediation, featured a captivating play by G H Raisoni Law College Nagpur. The play was scripted by Hon'ble Shri Anil kumar Sharma, District Judge, and Secretary of the HC Legal Aid subcommittee, Nagpur and was directed by Asst. Prof. Adv. Pranjali Bawane, Faculty by GH Raisoni Law College. The cast included Vikrant Daware as Trained Judge Mediator, Naseem Alam as Waman Kulkarni (secretary of Shiv Society),Brijesh Khatana as Rahul Thorat, Sanjay Takmoge as the Judge, Apurva Wanjari as the advocate of secretary waman kulkarni, Juhi Khadse as the advocate of Rahul Thorat, Noorin Ansari as the clerk, and Mahima Thorat as a resident of Shiv Society.

This Roleplay was done under the able guidance of Shri Anilkumar Sharma, District Judge, Joint Director, Judicial Officers Training Institute, Secretary, High Court Legal Aid Services Sub Committee to enunciate the concept of mediation in a profound way. Discussions revolved around the evolving role of judges in promoting mediation as an effective alternative dispute resolution method.

Notable speakers highlighted the importance of collaborative approaches, fostering a shared commitment to enhancing access to justice through mediation. Participants engaged in thought- provoking dialogues, exchanging insights and best practices, ultimately reinforcing the pivotal role of the legal community in advancing mediation within the judicial system. The experience of this Conference was miraculous and astonishing. We look forward to more such enlightening conferences.
