GH Raisoni University, Saikheda, M.P. offers Doctors of Philosophy Research Programme. GHRU’s PhD in Mathematics entails learning advanced calculus, abstract algebra, numerical analysis, statistics, linear algebra etc. The PhD cell of the University is responsible for conducting various activities like organizing PhD admissions to awarding the Degrees to the students. The PhD Department has laid out some specific goals for the PhD Cell for Doctoral Research

  • To develop synergy between creativity, innovation and in-depth knowledge in the chosen field of study.
  • To gain a superior understanding of the fundamentals of the topic in the chosen field of study. This is achieved through courses and self-study.
  • To develop abilities and skills to carry out independent research.

Eligibility

Students aspiring to pursue PhD need to fulfil one of the following eligibility criteria.

  • Candidates must have a master's degree or equivalent to the Master's Degree by the corresponding Statutory regulatory body. 55% marks or a B grade in the UGC 7-point scale or a similar degree from a foreign educational institution approved by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency. A recognized educational institute should support this in the country.
  • They are easing the score percentage by 5%, i.e. from 55% to 50% for students belonging to SC/ST, who are Differently abled and students who have obtained their Master's degree before 19th September 1991. The following eligibility mark of 55% and relaxation grade of 5% will only be permissible based on The qualifying marks wholly. Students having grace marks included in the qualifying marks will not be eligible.
  • A candidate needs five years of work experience in academic research and a master's degree with 55% marks in any field. A candidate needs to show that they have experience in the relevant area of study.

Admission Procedure

  • The University will notify candidates about the details of the number of vacancies and the entrance tests for the course. The University conducts entrance tests for the PhD Programme twice in an academic year.
  • Candidates can apply for admissions online on the university website for the PhD Programme.
  • PhD admission is a two-stage process that consists of 1. PhD Entrance Test (PET) 2. Personal Interview
  • PET syllabus consists of 50% Research Methodology based content, and 50% will be subject-specific.
  • PET, i.e. the entrance test for PhD Programme is a 100 mark MCQ test with 90 minutes.
  • If a candidate wishes to work or stay overseas, they need to make sure that the institution they're working in is associated with GHRU RAC through a preferable MOU. The work organization should strictly fulfil all the requirements of GHRU RAC.
  • All RAC rules apply to students living in India and PhD students from outside of India as well.

PhD Entrance Test for GHRU

  • Entrance exams for PhD Programme will be conducted at centres that will be notified in advance.
  • To qualify for the admissions for the PhD course, candidates need to score the minimum marks decided by the university and the Research Advisory Committee that academic year.
  • Exemption from Entrance Examination: Candidates who have cleared the following entrance tests shall be exempted from the entrance examination. NET /SET /SLET /GATE /IRF/M. Phil in the relevant discipline or UGC/ CSIR/ ICMR/ DBT* /RGNF /MANF* /DST inspire* & NBHM* Though they will still be required to appear for the Personal Interview after paying the prerequisite fees and filing the examination form.
    1. DBT – Department of Biotechnology
    2. RF - Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship
    3. MANF - Maulana Azad National Fellowship
    4. DST - Inspire- Department of Science & Technology
    5. NBHM- National Board for Higher Mathematics.
  • Eligible Candidates will be determined based on their merits and No of vacancies available in that department. They will then be called in for their Interview by the Research Committee of that department.
  • The list of qualified and exempted candidates will be uploaded on the University website.
  • A candidate needs to present and discuss their research interests, area of work, and study through a presentation to the specific department's Research Committee.
  • The Research Committee consists of the Dean of the Department, One relevant faculty member of that department who acts as a RAC Representative, two external professionals, Head of the Research Programmes.
  • The final step of selecting the candidates for the PhD Programme will be based entirely on their Research volume and quality, Work suitability for the University's research agenda and the contribution of their research to the existing knowledge in the world.
  • The final results of the PhD Programme admissions will be uploaded on the University website. Candidates can be provisionally admitted for the programme based on their Personal Interviews.
  • Candidates must submit all the required documents and pay the total fees within the due date of admissions. After completing this procedure, the admission of a candidate will be official and will be informed by the University.
  • Provisionally Admitted candidates must consult with the research supervisors to get information about vacancies in a particular department. Students can get the list of research supervisors from the GHRU Website. Candidates are advised to mail the supervisors on their official email for any admission related query. After discussing and communicating all the questions and queries, students must submit a consent letter signed by the University's research head.
  • Once the PhD Supervisor has consented to oversee and supervise a candidate's doctoral research, all work-related communication, issues, doubts and progress of that candidate must happen through the PhD Supervisor.
