The Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) conducts various undergraduate and postgraduate level entrance exams for admission into various courses offered by the university and its affiliated colleges. These entrance exams are commonly known as GGSIPU CET (Common Entrance Test) and the results of these exams are eagerly awaited by thousands of students across the country. In Gujarat, BSc Agriculture is a 3-4 years undergraduate course and admission is done based on a common entrance exam. Some of the top universities in Gujarat from where you can pursue a BSc in agriculture are JAU (Junagadh Agriculture University), AAU (Anand Agricultural University), School of Agriculture, RAI University and Sardarkrushinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University (SDAU) Palanpur. Admissions to these colleges are majorly made based on merit or GUJCET-2025 (Gujarat common entrance test) conducted by Gujarat Secondary & Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB).
The eligibility criterion for admission to BSc agricultural course may vary from one university to another. However, most of the educational institutions in Gujarat require an applicant to have successfully passed the 12th class exam from a recognised board with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English as main subjects. In addition to this, the applicant must have appeared for GUJCET of the current year.
All admissions to BSc agriculture courses in Gujarat universities are made through BSc Agriculture Entrance Test included in GUJCET (Gujarat common entrance test). GUJCET is a state-level entrance exam held annually for candidates seeking admission to professional engineering and pharmacy courses. This exam is conducted by Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) at many examination centres throughout the state.

The exam pattern comprises the mode of examination, the number of questions, duration, total marks etc. The detailed GUJCET exam pattern is as mentioned below:
Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GUJCET 2025) syllabus is based on the NCERT curriculum for class 10+2 science stream (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology of Gujarat state board). Students are advised to download the GUJCET 2025 practice papers to know about the type and level of questions asked in the exam. Any changes in the syllabus will be notified to students along with the release of exam dates.
The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board will announce the result tentatively in May. Students can download their results from the official website result.gseb.org.
The admission committee for professional courses in Gujarat will start the counselling session for BSc agricultural admission in various agricultural colleges tentatively in June 2025. The admission committee generally conducts two rounds of counselling sessions.
To claim a category-wise seat reservation in the GUJCET-2025 Agricultural entrance test, the candidate must possess a reservation certificate. The candidates will have to produce the reservation certificate at the time of the counselling session. The reservation percentage for different categories of students is as follows:
Pursuing a degree in BSc agriculture can provide you with in-depth knowledge and skills to take up employment in various public and private sector institutions. You can work in research centres, financial institutions (NABARD) and companies engaged in agriculture, dairy farming, horticulture, animal husbandry, and other agriculture and food processing sectors, or you can become an entrepreneur in agriculture and earn a handsome income from it.
Candidates who wish to be an academician or get involved in research activity may opt for an MSc in agriculture followed by a PhD after graduation in their respective field. MSc agriculture is a two-year course and offers practical knowledge where the students will have to go to the field to get hands-on working experience. There are multiple specialisations available to students at the MSc level like Agronomy, Biotechnology, Entomology, Soil Science, and Forestry, to name a few. Students can choose the right specialisation keeping their interests, aspirations and career prospects. Admission for the MSc agriculture course may either be direct or based on marks scored by candidates in the MSc Agriculture entrance test 2025 conducted by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR)
In Gujarat, admission for MSc Agriculture and PhD programs are made through Gujarat State-Agricultural Universities Common Admission (GSAUCA). In addition to this, the students must have scored at least 60% (55% for SC/ST/SEBC) marks in their four-year bachelor's degree course in agriculture.
