School of Pharmacy at G H Raisoni University is the center of excellence for Pharmaceutical Sciences Education in central India. About Department

The School of Pharmacy under the medicine sciences forms a key component of the University. It has been approved by UGC and PCI New Delhi under section 12 with affiliation from the G H Raisoni University Saikheda. The Department is composed of dynamic & well experienced faculty members who are actively engaged in knowledge creation and dissemination at the frontiers of the Pharmaceutical Sciences, to make the Department more focused in academics, research, industrial orientation, as well developed by grooming students in soft skill, competitive exams, outdoor activities etc. The laboratories are specially designed with well equipped instrument and safety concerns.

School of Pharmacy runs two branches i.e Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm) and Diploma in Pharmacy (D. Pharm)

Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm 4 year) and Diploma in Pharmacy (D. Pharm 2 year)


First year D. Pharm & First year B. Pharm:

Candidate shall have passed 10+2 examination conducted by the respective state/central government authorities recognized as equivalent to 10+2 examination by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) with English as one of the subjects and Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics (P.C.M) and or Biology (P.C.B / P.C.M.B.) as optional subjects individually. Any other qualification approved by the Pharmacy Council of India as equivalent to any of the above examinations.

B. Pharm lateral entry (to third semester):

A pass in D. Pharm. course from an institution approved by the Pharmacy Council of India under section 12 of the Pharmacy Act.


B. Pharm. Courses Framed under Regulation 6, 7 & 8 of the Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm) course regulations 2014 according to Pharmacy Council of India D. Pharm. Course framed as per PCI act.

These regulations shall be called as “The Revised Regulations for the B. Pharm. Degree Program (CBCS) of the Pharmacy Council of India, New Delhi”. They shall come into effect from the Academic Year 2016-17. The regulations framed are subject to modifications from time to time by Pharmacy Council of India.


Candidates pass a 10+2 in PCB/PCM from a state and central board shall be eligible for entrance test of pharmacy. The format of entrance test will be similar to that of PMT/CET. The date and place of which shall be announced through a notification. Eligible candidates directly apply online on website (ghru.edu.in) / offline. Candidates pass a diploma in pharmacy in PCI approved College or University, shall be eligible for admission to direct second year B. Pharmacy (Third semester).

Research Labs

“All the world is a laboratory, to the inquiring mind.”- Martin M. The knowledge, the information and the learning through this thought process is definitely promising. And, this is exactly what we at the G H Raisoni University, Saikheda aspire to inculcate in our students.

Through our Department of Pharmacology, we intend to generate an intellectual and physical environment for our students. With our laboratory, the students are well implanted with the elementary principles via versatile experiments and practical education. Our laboratories are well equipped with sophisticated instruments including, organ bath, assemblies for isolated tissue experiments, Rota rod apparatus, analgesiometer, convulsiometer, Cook’s pole climbing apparatus to name a few. With the help of our well furnished laboratory the students are able to set up procedures to pursue tissue experiments along with In-vivo pharmacological screening experiments for CNS, CVS, and Respiratory, GIT and Renal drugs. The laboratory faculty is well versed to aid the students to learn better. Also, complete parameters of safety are taken into consideration for the entire experimental set up.


Pharmacognosy is the branch of Science which focuses on medicinal drugs obtained from plants or other natural resources.

Indeed, with plant materials being used throughout the developed and developing countries for home remedies and raw material for the Pharmaceutical industry, its significance cannot be obliterated.

Thus we, at the G H Raisoni University, Saikheda, aim to provide knowledge and information to the students on versatile topics including, production of pharmaceutical raw material from natural sources, traditional medicines and phytochemical screening of medicinal plants through our Pharmacognosy laboratory. The laboratory has the updated equipments and advanced practical curriculum so as to ensure brushing the students with practical exposure. A series of experiments are also conducted in the laboratory to make sure that the students are able to identify crude drugs, pursue phytochemical screening, employ instruments like Gas chromatography, binocular microscope, project microscope, TLC spreader and Clevenger’s spreader. The well equipped laboratory results in better learning for students.


“Pharmaceutics- The science of dosage form design.”

At the G H Raisoni University, Saikheda, the Pharmaceutics laboratory is deemed as a scientific discipline centering on the procedure of creating a therapeutic dosage form, which can thereby be used as a medicine.

The objective of the Pharmaceutics Department is to ensure that the students are excelled in their practical skills and at the same time avail knowledge associated with the physicochemical properties of the drug, small scale manufacture and evaluation of dosage forms in the laboratory. Thus, our laboratories are well supplied with sophisticated instruments including, UV spectrophotometer, single station tablet compression machine, ball mill, Monsanto hardness tester, Pfizer hardness tester and capsule fitting machine. The apparatus we harbor at our labs, includes, Double cone blender, friability test apparatus, tablet disintegration test apparatus, tablet dissolution test apparatus, Andresen apparatus to name a few. In the laboratory the students are able to learn Novel drug delivery systems like ocular, nasal, transmucosal, transdermal and soft palatal drug delivery systems which assist in curtailing the drug dosage. A deeper understanding of the concepts is thus achieved with us.

We at the G H Raisoni University, Saikheda aspire to provide a sound knowledge and comprehension of the presence of microbes, bacteria, fungi, yeast, virus, toxins and its significance in the Pharmaceutical industry.

The objective of our laboratory is to provide the students with practical exposure pertaining to Tissue culture techniques and sterilization techniques, including antibiotic essay and microbial screening. This laboratory is built with an insight into the biotechnology industry, and thus has instruments including, BOD incubator, digital oven, bacterial colony counter and autoclaves. It also consists of an aseptic room with laminar air flow cabinet and UV cabinet and well fabricated aseptic area in accordance with the standard guidelines. The equipments and tools assist in familiarizing the students with current good manufacturing practices, design, development and maintenance of sterile areas, procedure for sterility testing, experiments in biotechnology, growth, cultivation,

isolation and identification of microbes and the microbiological assays. Thus in-depth learning by the students is inevitable through our laboratories.


“Pharmaceutical analysis- Branch of practical chemistry”

Involves a series of process for identification, determination, quantification and purification of a substance, separation of the components of a solution or mixture, or determination of structure of chemical compounds.

Our Pharmaceutical analysis Lab is well equipped with sophisticated instruments like HPLC, UV Spectrophotometer, Karl Fischer Titrator, Gel Electrophoresis, Distillation Unit Reflux flask and condenser double / triple necked and Muffle Furnace, Colorimeter, Nephelo Turbidity meter, Flame Photometer, Potentiometer, Flourimeter, Conductivity meter, Ion- Exchanger etc. This lab played a significant role in the qualitative and quantitative analysis of drugs in accordance with various pharmacopoeias methods.


“Pharmaceutical Chemistry- Study of drugs and drug development”

Involves development and assessment of therapeutic compounds. It also encompasses drug design, drug synthesis and the evaluation of drug efficacy (how effective it is in treating a condition) and drug safety.

In our Pharmaceutical Chemistry laboratory, students get familiarized with various organic and inorganic compounds by their nature, physical and chemical properties and usage in chemical reactions as well as in pharmaceutical industries.

The students will be exposed to analyze the organic and inorganic compounds as per Pharmacopoeia Standards along with practical experience for synthesizing active Pharmaceutical Ingredients etc.


“Pharmaceutics-The science of dosage form design”

The objectives of this labs is to provide practical exposure to the budding pharmacists on Physical Pharmaceutics, Manufacturing Operations, Pre-formulation Screening Tests, >Designing Evaluation and Pharmacokinetic study of solid, liquid, semisolid dosage forms including Novel Drug Delivery Systems like ocular, nasal, transmucosal, transdermal, soft palatal drug delivery systems etc. which curtail the drug dose and minimizes the drug adverse reactions with excellent patient compliance.

Plant materials are used throughout developed and developing countries as home remedies, over the counter drug products and raw materials for the Pharmaceutical industry.

Our Pharmacognosy lab is responsible to provide knowledge and information to the students on topics such as production of pharmaceutical raw materials from natural sources, traditional medicines and phytochemical screening of medicinal plants.

The primary objective of this lab is to provide practical exposure to Undergraduates and Research Students basic skills required to identify the crude drugs and adulterants, phytochemical screening with the help of advanced instruments like Gas chromatography, Binocular microscope, Projecting microscope, TLC spreader, Clevenger’s apparatus etc. for isolation of various active constituents present in medicinal plants.

At the G H Raisoni University, Saikheda our language lab is the perfect platform for the students to learn languages, gain access to its proficiency level and become well versed in the field.

Our language laboratory is an immensely useful tool for facilitating classroom engagement for our students. We have included in our curriculum, engagement and interaction via computer based exercises and activities in order to maximize language immersion. We harbor the laboratory software, which in turn enhances listening, speaking, reading and writing skills for the students. The system is such that it can be controlled by a teacher, after which it is connected to a number of student booths. Each of the student booths consists of a student control system, along with a headset and a microphone. So, basically software can be installed on any of the networked Personal computers, which a student has access to. With the aid of software the learning becomes feasible and enriching.


Project work

All the students shall undertake a project under the supervision of a teacher and submit a report. The area of the project shall directly relate any one of the elective subject opted by the student in semester VIII. The project shall be carried out in group not exceeding 5 in number. The project report shall be submitted in triplicate (typed & bound copy not less than 25 pages).

The internal and external examiner appointed by the University shall evaluate the project at the time of the Practical examinations of other semester(s). Students shall be evaluated in groups for four hours (i.e., about half an hour for a group of five students). The projects shall be evaluated as per the criteria given below.

Explanation: The 75 marks assigned to the dissertation book shall be same for all the students in a group. However, the 75 marks assigned for presentation shall be awarded based on the performance of individual students in the given criteria.

Industrial training

Every candidate shall be required to work for at least One Month in a Pharmaceutical Industry/Hospital. It includes Production unit, Quality Control department, Quality Assurance department, Analytical laboratory, Chemical manufacturing unit, Pharmaceutical R&D, Hospital (Clinical Pharmacy), Clinical Research Organization

Community Pharmacy, etc. After the Semester – VI and before the commencement of Semester – VII, and shall submit satisfactory report of such work and certificate duly signed by the authority of training organization to the head of the institute.

Practice School

In the VII semester, every candidate shall undergo practice school for a period of 150 hours evenly distributed throughout the semester. The student shall opt any one of the domains for practice school declared by the program committee from time to time. At the end of the practice school, every student shall submit a printed report (in triplicate) on the practice school he/she attended (not more than 25 pages). Along with the exams of semester VII, the report submitted by the student, knowledge and skills acquired by the student through practice school shall be evaluated by the subject experts at college leveland grade point shall be awarded.
