Eligibility Criteria
  1. Minimum age: The age of the candidate should be 16 years as on last date of submission of application form.
  2. Aggregate marks: Candidates must have passed the qualifying examination (12th Std. Science) with minimum 50% marks for General category (Open) and minimum 40% marks in aggregate for reserved categories (SC/ST/VJa/NTb/NTc/NTd/OBC/ SBC/EWS/Handicapped).

  1. XII Std. (Science) passed in 10+2 pattern from Maharashtra State Board of Higher Secondary Education or an equivalent Examination, with PCB or PCMB or PCM or Inter (Agriculture) and passed with English.
  2. Those who have not offered Biology or Mathematics shall have to complete deficiency courses as prescribed by respective University.
  3. Common Entrance Examination i.e. MHT-CET/JEE/NEET organized by Competent Authority during year 2020-21 in PCB or PCM subject.
Note:- (P- Physics, C- Chemistry, M- Mathematics, B- Biology)
  1. Those who have not offered Mathematics/ Biology as one of the subjects at XII Std. (Science) shall have to complete 2 additional credits in Mathematics as deficiency course which will not be considered while calculating the C.G.P.A. (For Sr.No.1 to 4 & 7 to 8 above)
  2. Candidates from outside of Madhya Pradesh State who have passed qualifying examination of XII Std. (Science) or equivalent with Botany and Zoology instead of Biology are also eligible for admission.
  3. The highest marks of entrance examination will be considered in case of candidate appearing more than one entrance examination.
  4. NEET Common admission entrance examination is also available in Physics, Chemistry and Biotechnology group but this group of NEET Common admission entrance examination will not be considered for admission.
  5. Inter (Agriculture) course should be as per the criteria laid down by Indian council of Agriculture Research.

Postgraduate admissions are strictly on merit basis on marks obtained in the Common Entrance Test (CET) of respective faculty for the current year conducted by Maharashtra Agricultural Universities Examination Board (MAUEB) and CGPA of the qualifying degree examination in the proportion of 70:30 without weightages, respectively. Accordingly, Minimum 55 % (5.5 out of 10 point scale) are compulsory for open category and Minimum 50 % (5.0 out of 10 point scale) for schedule caste (SC), schedule tribe(ST), VJ(a), NT(b), NT(c), NT(d), Other backward class (OBC) , Special Backward Category (SBC), socially and educationally backward class(SEBC), Economically weaker section(EWS) and Physically handicapped(PH)

Course Structure
  • The State Agricultural Universities have adopted course „Credit System‟ under the„Semester Pattern‟. In this system each academic year is divided into two terms not shorter than 20 weeks, called as „Semester‟. Subjects to be taught are divided into self contained units called Courses.
  • The courses taught in a semester through lectures, practical‟s, library reading, field work, assignments, etc.
  • The choice of courses, number of credits to be taken by a student is decided in consultation with assigned counsellor, keeping in view the existing rules and the performance of the students.
  • If the performance of a student in a particular course is not up to the mark, he may repeat the course and he may clear it in Re-Exam.
  • The candidates admitted for degree programme will have to complete Student READY (Rural and Entrepreneurship Awareness Development Yojana) programme during VII & VIII semester as per the Vth Deans Committee Recommendations.
    Mode of Implementation:- Experiential Learning/Hands on Training , Skill Development Training, Rural Agriculture Work Experience, In Plant Training/ Industrial attachment, Students Projects.
  • Total 50% marks is compulsory for passing in theory and practical examination however, in Theory examination minimum 40% marks is compulsory for the concern subject.
  • Academic rules and regulations updated time to time as per requirement. Such updated rules and regulations will be applicable to registered students.
  • The rules recommended by the fifth Deans Committee Report of Indian Council of Agricultural Research shall be applicable to the admitted students.
Examination

The academic performance of student is assessed through midterm, theory and practical examination conducted during academic session. Controller of university appointed the exam coordinator, for smooth conduction of theory / practical examination. An internal squad comprising of four faculty members in nominated for observing the rules and discipline of examination.

Courses with Theory and Practical

  • Mid-term Exam (30%) + Assignment (5%) in practical oriented courses + Practical (15%)

Courses with only Theory

  • Mid-term Exam (40%) + Assignment (10%)

Courses with only Practical: (100%) Internal

  • Final examination question papers are set by university central examination cell.
  • For practical, it is commended that examinations are conducted by the course instructors and teacher nominated by Dean as external examiner.
Research Labs

Department of Agronomy:

The department has Agroforestry and Agro meteorology laboratory. The labs have all the major equipments required for the conduction of practical as well as research purpose of UG and PG students. Apart from this, department conducts research and practical experiments on fields.

Department of Plant pathology

The department has two Practical cum Research labs (Plant Pathology and Microbiology), one instrumentation room and inoculation room for UG and PG students. Department also has small experimental fields for student research experiments.

Mushroom Production and Processing

Students were provided hands on training in mushroom cultivation including production, harvesting and marketing practices.

Department of Entomology:

The department has a well-equipped laboratory with experimental field and other isolated facilities for practical demonstration and culturing for successful academic, practical and training relevant to programs.

Apiculture Unit:

The Department of Entomology is maintaining apiary of the European bee, Apis mellifera for the purpose of practical as well as hands on training for the UG and PG students. The unit has 20 Bee boxes.

Department of Horticulture:

The department has three well-equipped laboratories i.e. Fruit science and vegetable science and Post-harvest technology for UG and PG students, where students conduct experimental work related to their dissertation and research. The department is also having a poly house and shed net house for practical as well as research purpose.

Department of Agricultural Botany:

The department has four well equipped laboratories viz Crop physiology, Genetics and plant breeding, Plant biotechnology and Seed technology. Apart from this 35 acre land is allotted for research and practical purpose of UG and PG students. Different practicals and research are conducted in lab as well as in allotted farm.

Plant Tissue Culture Unit-

As an emerging technology, the plant tissue culture has a great impact on both agriculture and industry, by providing plants needed to meet the ever increasing world demand.

Department of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry

Department of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry has two well equipped laboratories Soil Science and agricultural chemistry and Biochemistry laboratory along with soil testing unit and mobile soil testing van. The laboratory are completely developed with titration, chemical analysis of soil, nutrients and micro nutrients analysis facilities.

Soil Testing Unit-

School of Agricultural Sciences realize the importance of soil testing, considering its importance School of Agricultural Sciences plays a significant role for the farmers of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra by providing the facility of well-equipped soil testing Unit and Mobile Soil Testing Van.

  • The Soil testing Unit laboratory is having area 855.19 sq. ft.
  • This laboratory is specially established for the benefits of farmers.
  • We analyze EC, pH, Organic Carbon, major as well as micronutrients.
  • Soil testing unit is engaged for local farmer’s soil sample analysis.
  • Mobile soil testing van plays a significant role for those who are not able to come at institute.
  • We take their query on phone and mobile soil testing unit solve their queries on their farm

Department of Agricultural Economics, Statistics and Computer science:

  • The department has three different laboratories viz Agricultural Economics, Statistics and Computer Science.
  • The laboratory is having sufficient Computer with statistical software, Audio Visual aids, 3D printer and high speed internet facility to the staff and students. The lab is well designed by different graphical charts and poster.

Department of Agricultural Extension

The Laboratory of this subject is well furnished. The Department has two LCD projector, TV and different charts related to subjects for students study purpose.

Department of Animal Science and Dairy Science:

The laboratory is aimed to train the students on Handling of animals, breeding of domestic livestock, reproduction processes such as egg-laying in poultry, milk production in cows, sheep and goats, the right amount and the right quality of food, confinement and shelter for all types of domesticated livestock; and preventive medicine and animal welfare.

Department of Agricultural Engineering:

  • The Department has one well equipped laboratory with different models, Tools/machineries/implements for demonstration.
  • The department also has a workshop for practical as well as research purpose.
  • Agri Engineering workshop is equipped with Tractor, tillage implements (plough, Harrows. Cultivator, Rotavator), Intercultural implements (weeder, hoes, power weeder), Plant protection equipments (Knapsack sprayers, power sprayers) seeding and fertilizer implements (seed drill) Surveying and levelling devices like dumpy level, chains, ranging rod, Prismatic compass. Irrigation implements (drip irrigation and sprinkler irrigation).

Department of Food Science and Technology

The laboratory of Food science and technology is under process. The departments already placed the requirement of necessary equipments, glassware, chemicals and charts to the management.
